Q: Does anyone know a car club in San Antonio that would like to show their cars at a school carnival.?
I am looking for a classic car club that would like to volunteer their time by showing their cars at a San Antonio elementary school carnival in the spring. I think it would be something our families would enjoy seeing. Classic cars, mustangs or just interesting cars. I just don’t know where to find one. Do you?

A: The Alamo Area Council of Car Clubs (a part of the Alamo Area Council Of Governments) is the “focal point” for the larger San Antonio area car clubs. Web address is http://www.aacog.com/tourism/carcruises/AlamoAreaCouncilofCarClubs.asp. They meet once a month.

I’m sure you’ll get positive response from them.

Which elementary school?

Good luck!

C.J.

Q: how many cars can you have inyour property at one time in San Antonio?
i live in san antonio and there is cars being worked on at my house and my neighbor (who cant see my house) is mad so i want to know how many cars are able to be at my house if there is a limit.

A: your cars regged and insured ok/other cars regged and insured depends on zone laws/i know i wouldnt want that in my neighborhood if it was strictly residential/i would have the city there every 10 minutes and be spreading tacks around to flatten tires/have to have respect for the rest of the people that live there

Q: What requirements does a person need to sell used cars in San Antonio, Tx?

A: start here

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AifyDQdeBoRPHz2aW8M1YusjzKIX;_ylv=3?qid=20080328150015AASFyBr

Q: NBA San Antonio Spurs players cars?
Does anyone know which cars the San Antonio Spurs players drive?

A: Nope. Why? Are you looking to stalk somebody? Try watching MTV Cribs, that should give you enough info to plan your sick attack.
….you should find a new hobbie.

Q: Does St. Philip’s College in San Antonio really fix cars for free?
I heard that if you buy the parts, the auto technician program at St. Philip’s will fix your car for free because they are looking for projects for their students.

A: Paul Rein hit the nail right on the head for this question. Some schools do have this type program. You may also want to check with Vo-Tech programs at high schools. They do the same thing. Just as Rein said though, your car problem usually has to coincide with what they are learning at the time.

Another thing to consider is if you really want students working on your car. While I thin its important for these future mechanics to have hands on experience, I think its better for them to have access to people’s cars that they won’t be hurried on. For example, it’s better for them to work on someone’s cars that has several and can part with their ride long enough for these kids to learn properly. I’ve heard horror stories about these programs turning out cars in worse shape then they started with because people hurried them to finish with their cars. Keep in mine these kids are learning. The teacher has to explain things to them. They have to study things. They are not a shop that’s going to devote time specifically to your car.

What I’m saying is there is nothing wrong with taking your car to a school to be fixed. Just be prepared for reality. Be sure you can do without your car so these kids can learn. They will do you a service by fixing your car for free. You have to do them a service by allowing them open access to your car. It’s a we’ll scratch your back you scratch ours situation.

Q: When and why did the skyride (cable cars) in San Antonio shut down?

A: It was about 1999. I remember because I lived in Mahnke Park across from Brackenridge and took my kids there alot. Then, I moved for a better family dynamic location for my kids although we were members of the zoo and would come often. One day they said they were shutting down the cable cars. They were old and built about 40 years ago, and not kept up, so they took them down. Hopefully they will put up something else kind of fun. A lot has changed about Brackenridge, but there is a lot in the works to make it better also.

Q: Where can I get a great tint job for my car in San Antonio, Tx, for a cheap price?
Where can I get a quality tint job for my car in San Antonio, Tx, for “not a lot” of money?
Naturally, I want to get something that will last, and not turn purple since I plan on keeping my car untill It no longer works! But I need a good, low price. Where should I go? What should I look for, and what (or who) should I avoid?

A: OK, for starters, stay away from what are known as “dyed” films! Although these are cheap, they don’t last because the dyes within this kind of tint, fades out over time. The UV rays of the sun cause the “colored dyes” within these films to fade into an unattractive purple color just like you mentioned, so dyed films are a big no-no if you want your tint job to last (dyed films have about a 2 or 3 yr lifespan before the bubbling and color change starts)! Secondly, make sure you get what is known as a “metalized” or “metal sputtered” film! Metal tint jobs not only keep out upwards of 60% of the sun’s UV rays and heat vs. 30% for dyed films, but they last much much longer. The metal fibers that are embedded in the plastic film aren’t altered by the sun’s UV rays like the dyes, and so this type of film will last and last (upwards of 10 years or more)! Since most people don’t keep the same car for more than about 5 years, a 10 year lifespan is more than most folks need! Whatever you do, please don’t go to the tint place named after your momma! Their work is good, but the prices are outragous! A cheap, dyed tint with a 3 yr warranty on a 2 door car costs $120, and a better metal film with a lifetime warranty costs $200 (I was just quoted these prices by one of their stores, call them up and see for yourself)! They even quoted me $400 for what they call a “ceramic” tint job! Sure the idea of a ceramic film is neat, but it doesn’t really keep out much more heat than metal film does, and the warranty isn’t any better (how can you improve on a lifetime warranty anyway)! No sir, that’s way to much to pay if you ask me, but then again they DO have to pay for all of those TV and radio ads, don’t they? Try calling my friends over at MOFO’s Vehicle Accessories. The owners have over 30 years of experience combined in the car and truck accessories business! They also have any and everything you could ever want for a car or truck including window tint! Their tinter has been been tinting for over 16 years AND they only charge $100 for a metal tint with a lifetime warranty
(instead of $200 like “mamma’s” does)! You can call them at (210)400-0240 or email them at mofosaccessories@yahoo.com . They tinted my car and left it looking perfect! Good luck to you! I hope I helped!

Q: Is it possible to live in San Antonio without a car?
I am moving from NYC to San Antonio. I am trying to ecru as little expenses as possible, because I will be on a fixed income at first.

Do you Need a car, if you live either in north central or alamo heights? and are commuting anywhere from north central to downtown SA?

A: There are lots of buses and taxis….and if you make friends with someone, that’s a possibility. There are also lots of shopping centers and strip malls in and around most residential areas where people just walk to shop.

Q: Are there any auto dealers near San Antonio that would like to sell their trade in cars to me?

A: All of them would. That’s what they do with trade-ins — they sell them.

Q: Has anyone bought a car from the San Antonio Police Auction?
I need a second car and they say it is cheap buying cars from the auction. Is it worth buying one from there? Are they in working condition? Are there any other fees other than the price of the car?

A: It’s worth buying a car from an auction. Most of them are in working condition. But you should bring a mechanic with you to give it a through inspection because they are sold in as-is condition. They add fees on top of you bid like auction fees, taxes and registration.

Q: Where can I find a BMW E30 in good conditions for sale? I am from San Antonio Texas.?
I want a BMW E30 in good conditons but i cant find any for sale, I guess because its a car from the late 80s and early 90s.

Does anyone know anyone that is selling one in my area?

PS Ill also settle for a E21

A: If you look hard enough, you should be able to find one. It could take up to a year though. You should also look in Austin and Dallas since they are not that far away. Just look online in the newspaper classifieds and also on cars.com and autotrader.com. Additionally, each military base near you should have a local base paper with classifieds. They are nice cars and although not as plentiful as some other cars, most of them are still on the road.

Q: Does anyone have a 1968-1969 all original Pontiac GTO project car for Trade or sale?
I have a 1979 Trans Am project car that is fully load up for trade. All original maybe a Y84 because it has the large sail panel’s and the Phoenix on the hood with all the SE pin striping. T- Tops power windows power locks. Camel Tan vinyl bucket seats and 2 rear bucket seats. Power trunck. 400 Trans and a 4 speed crome Hurst short shifter with Pontiac grip. Tan steering wheel every thing Tan Interior quarter panels. Bezel dash Gold but faded. SnowFlake Allumium rims gold and silver side wall. With chrome locks for rims. It also has allumium black louvers and silver trim around the outside of the doors. All Original I am the second owner. paint faded from Sun. San Antonio Tx car.

A: Yes

Q: Where can I find cheap car rentals and hotels for san antonio Texas?
discounts or sales

A: Here is, by far, your best bet: Just type in date and San Antonio and voila – best rates on the internet!!

http://www.hotwire.com/

Q: San Antonio jobs? READ FIRST?
Rule number ONE. Never mention offhanded glorified-tempjob websites like texasworkforce.com in your answer.
They fail on an epic scale.

Now. I need a job, I need one in San Antonio area within 10 miles of Converse. And it must be $10 an hour or I won’t even be able to SURVIVE with my car loan, rent, groceries, and ridiculous gas prices.

My work experience is 5yrs construction (sheetrock hanging/scrapping Colorado), retail stocking and sales, and building displays, driving a forklift.

4yrs buying/selling on Ebay just to get by.

Personal experience 13yrs using Windows XP internet explorer & only html coding, wordpad, paint program alterations. etc.

The MILITARY has denied me for my vision, which is perfectly correctable.
The SAPD won’t let me in without 12 college credit hours. Which means months at a credited college I can’t afford.

So once again, I need a job that would pay $10 an hour, as otherwise I’d just be homeless. Reasonable answers and ideas only please.
Do -not- mention CostCo.
They denied me for inexperience over some girl who had 10 months stocking and years of fast food.

Okay, this is one of the jobs I found .
The web site i gave was www.workintexas.com, NOT texasworkforce!
I didn’t find anything for a forklift operator in or near Converse.
Look, the days of filling out that paper application are going the way of the Dodo . Nowadays, your future employer will ask,”Are you on Work In Texas”? If you say ,yes, then he/she will ask for your Social and look at your resume on file.
From right there,he/she will say yes or no to determine if you can do the job they are offering.
Now if you’re loking for a way to go back to school, then Alamo Work Source might have a way for you to do that. It’s called the W I A Program(Worforce Investment Act).
You bring in the cost of what it will cost to get those college hours and if it’s under the Alamo Work Source “umbrella”,then they will pay for it up to $5800.00.
By the way, I found another job.

SAN ANTONIO, TX 78221
Phone: (210) 928-3985
Event Location: S. FLORES/LOBBY & SMALL RESOURCE RM
Description: EMPLOYER ID #1299110, EMPLOYER WILL BE POSTING JOBS IN WIT/LOBBY & SMALL RESOURCE ROOM/
Also, on Wednesday, the 14th,there will be a job fair of more than FIFTY job recruiters looking for applicants. And I can’t stress this enough, DRESS UP! You wouldn’t beleive the morons who show up with that ball cap with the sunglasses perched on the brim. Kinda makes me want to tell them,”Okay, stand on the plastic. POW! POW!”
But seriously, the WIA is limited funding and it’s a first come – first serve basis,so once the money is gone, you’ll have to wait till next year. The nearest Alamo Work Source to you is on Austin Hwy in the Terrell Hills Shopping Center.
But if you do make it to the South Flores location, the Customer Service reps are Carolina and Ralph. Tell them Gust sent you. Best of luck.

Q: What legal recourse do I have when someone threatened to blow my head off?
While at work the other night, I had to refuse a sale due to the customer not having any ID with him. He said I did not ID the 60 year old woman in front of him and I was descriminating by asking him and not her. I explained the law – that he did not look 27 and therefore I had to ID him. He got irate, cursed and stomped and as he was leaving put his hands in his pocket and said, “I’m gonna blow your f****** head off b****.” He then went to his friends car and they sat for a few moments before leaving. We called the cops who did a report but where do I go from here – can I press charges. My co-worker and I were shaking and didn’t know what he was going to do once he got in his car. We live in San Antonio – there are lots of guns and gangs and this pretty much shot my nerves. We got nervous every time the door opened after that but don’t know what to do next? Any thoughts?

A: I don’t think there’s much you can do. You’ve already done what you could by calling the cops and making a report on it. Just try to be careful and if you ever see him again stay away and if he says anything to you that sounds threatening just call the cops and they’ll probably arrest him.

Q: car title problem?!?!?!?!?!?!?
i will try and keep it brief i have a bill of sale for a car that says i put a down payment (half the price of the car) i have the title(not signed and in the sellers name. i dont have documentation saying i paid the rest off but i have the title that never got signed. the guy is a real shady person. the car is in his possesion because he wanted to buy it back but i fear if i ask for it back i may get a stripped car or not see it at all. is there anyway i can get the car title transfered to me with the documents i have so i can take the poliuce with me or am i s.o.l what should i do. i live in san antonio tx by the way

A: Since he didnt sign the title, you are out of luck

he can report the title lost, get a new one and reclaim the car

all within the law

bad move on your part

A: they are real – there are all kinds of laws on the books that are out-of-date and yet they haven’t been removed -
they have them in all states -
a while back they finally removed one from our area when they had to give a guy that got of jail a horse and a gun b/c back in the day that was how people made their living and they hadn’t voided the law , so they had to give them to him

Q: Can I get everyone’s opinion?
I’m looking for a car for work. My credit is less than perfect and I don’t have much of a history yet anyway (i’m only 20). The big dealers here in San Antonio, TX (CarMax, Ancira, Freedom Chevrolet) won’t finance me through an outside bank. I applied and got a response saying I have insuficcient credit history and to few open accounts.

Anyway, there is a place called Max Auto Sales that will help me get a car (a new car). They are a “Buy here, Pay here” dealer. They have been around since 1976 and have a perfect record with the BBB and the State of Texas. Their customer satisfaction has always been rated highly. Anyway, they’re offering me a 2008 Dodge Caliber with 23,000 miles on it at 310 a month for 48 months at 11% interest. The car was checked with Carfax and comes out clean.

My brother has a car from them and he’s happy with it. He’s had it for 2 years now. No problems.

Should I go for it?
The Caliber isn’t a plain stripped down model.

A: It sounds as if you are going in with your eyes open. You have done your research and seem to be comfortable with the company you propose to do business with. The concern for me is that you mention a payment and interest rate…not the price of the car. Though 11% seems a little high to me, it may be the only financing option you have available. That is understandable, but the “deal” they are offering you does not seem to give you any room to negotiate on the price of the car which would be typical in almost any purchase situation with a dealer. Is the car worth the $11,999 asking price? Before you jump in feet first consider that you will be paying almost 15k over the next four years, and that the chance of having significant equity remaining in the vehicle is probably not too good. If you do decide that it is what you have to do, good luck and enjoy.

Q: I’m 21, is there a place I can Rent a car in San Antonio, Texas?
Can you give me a few suggestions? I’m flying in and I need a car to drive from the airport to my desination…can you help me?? about how much will it cost me?

A: Sir,
I just spoke with Enterprise Rent A Car national. Their answer to me was as follows 21-24 can rent a car at the Airport in San Antonio. The only cars availble to them are economy thru full size ONLY no convertible, mini vans or Pick-up trucks. In addition there will be an additional charge of $15.00 a day. So if a car rented for $25.00 they would add another $15.00 making it $40.00 for the day.

Q: What is the best neighborhood in which to sleep in a car in San Antonio, Texas?
Hi — I’m using free wifi and charging my batteries in a cafe close to downtown San Antonio. Does anyone have any recommendations where a person might go in order to park for free and sleep overnight in his rental car? (I have a good sleeping bag for warmth and the back seat’s actually pretty comfortable, so don’t worry about that stuff.) It would be good if the recommended area had a bar or other such late-night place I could hang out in before turning in, and/or a good place to grab a coffee and maybe wash my face in the morning. I am a brown skinned guy, sometimes characterized as a hipster scumbag yuppie, so if that helps . . . I guess I would want to avoid areas where I would be an obvious target for harassment from either criminals or attention from the authorities.

A: I would recommend that you stay somewhere north of Commerce. There are certain areas where the police would be more likely to roust you. Avoid the Alamo Heights, Olmos Park and Terrell Hills areas which are north of Downtown and inside Loop 410. Avoid Castle Hills which is North of Loop 410 around Blanco and NW Military. Avoid Hollywood Park which is North of 410 off Hwy 281, and avoid the Stone Oak/Sonterra area North of Loop 1604 west of Hwy 281. The police in these areas are just a little more vigilant.

A friend of mine who drives often and needs to stop and sleep finds that parking in the back area of hotel parking lots is normally a good area, as they are usually close to restaurants, bars, and are convenient to the roads.

It’s going to be cold tonight so bundle up!

Q: Selling a car to somebody in San Antonio, Texas. Need Help.?
Ive never really sold a car out of state to somebody. I am just curious to know how I can find out how much it would cost to ship a car to Texas from California? And also what other important important things are there to consider doing this transaction?

A: Here’s few things to keep in mind.

1. Find out Texas rules on Smog for out of State cars. Weather you are responsible to provide Smog title.
2. The Buyer has to pay for the entire cost of shipping the car. Make him deal with the transport company. So he pays their cost not you. Your responsibility is to hand over the car when trucker comes to pick it up.
3. Have full price of the car in hand before mailing the title to the Buyer. No money orders or personal checks.
4. Silly point but find out anyway where and what you have to sign over on the title.
5. DO NOT send the Title with the car. Mail it before hand or separately to the Buyer.
6. Since this is out of state, you want to take off the Plates and keep them. Its the buyer’s responsibility to get his own.

Good luck!

Q: I am new in town (San Antonio Texas) and i want to know of a tranmission shop that will fix my car for cheap?
I have taken my car to two shops that was very expensive. I am on a tight budit and cant really afford to get my car fixed. Can someone in San Antonio on the northwest side tell me of a good shop to take my car.

A: That’s going to be a problem, isn’t it?

It’s a ton of work to get a transmission out of most vehicles.

Do not insult auto techs by thinking you can short them out on their work.

Q: Replace Isuzu Rodeo 1988 Fuel Pump? Car X in San Antonio, Texas?
Hi,

I just got off the phone with Car X in San Antonio, Texas, and they gave me a cost estimate of labor and parts being around $1,300. I’m flabbergasted!

This is the part I need:

http://www2.partstrain.com/store/?Ntt=Fuel%20Pump&N=10804%201640%204294967265

$364

— This was my old post, but now I need some fresh insight:

I called them again and told them that I would order the part myself from a company that sells new parts for 1/2 the price. (I know, it’s probably not safe.)

They are charging me:

1) $75 towing
2) $80 for diagnostics of the car when it came in
3) $49.99 for Fuel Injection
4) $55.00 labor to replace Fuel Injection
5) $20.00 for “disposable fees” — I’ve never heard of this. Is this legitimate?
6) And finally, $160.00 to install the new fuel pump that I ordered myself.

Grand total = $439.99 plus tax equals $445.58. I’m not sure if that is the correct amount for tax.
All in all, what do you guys think now? They WERE going to charge me (originally) $922.50 for the fuel pump alone!

Furthermore, they said that if I order the parts myself, that means they cannot give me the warranty because it’s not their parts (which I understand).

So? Any opinions?
I will pay the company $445.58 for the fees and parts; however, all in all, I will have spent $810.53.

A: Is this a dealership? This repair should be done at the dealers. Even the link you gave for the part indicates that. I think I would pay for a tow to the nearest dealer and get it done correctly, then sort out what they think they want to be paid later.

And no, I’ve never heard of a “disposable fee”. I do charge a parentage on some jobs as a shop fee which covers things like rags I need to use and replace, but it’s no where near $20.

Q: HIT and run my car in san antonio texas and the police don’t do nothing?
hey how i can i do if one girl hit my car but she ,run in her truck and my car is damage but i give the police the diver’slicense plate the she truck ,and know i have the bills ,.and i have my lawyer but what happen if the police never found the truck or never let me know about if the truck have insiguranse, and my lawyer just send hem mail about she have inseguranse,or not , can i put this girl in the jail or pay my bills and fix my car. WHAT I CAN I DO ?

A: ur lawyer can sue her or her insurance company. what good would it do to put her in jail? among other things, it would make her less able to pay you the money she owes you.

have some mercy on people instead of being such a knee-jerk retributionalist.

edit: you can sue her without proof of who was driving. the fact that it was her car is enough to raise an inference that she was driving it and/or that she has ownership liability unless and until she provides some explanation of who specifically was driving it, etc.

Q: does any one know of a dependable use car dealer in san antonio texas. need one for teenager?

A: I heard of a car dealer Dewy Cheatum & Howe in San Antonio Texas. Check out the yellow pages.

Q: How much would it cost as a maximum in fuel and tolls for a car travelling from San Antonio, Texas to New York?
Well i live in England and my girlfriend lives in the USA and when i come and visit her in her hometown of San Antonio we’re hoping to drive up to New York with two of her mates, seen as without sleeping and stopping it is approximaitely a 1day 2hour and 17minute trip I’m gueesing it’d be a 3day trip there max and 3day trip back realisticly, the only things is we’re gonna need an estimate of fuel and toll prices as two roads are partial toll roads and one of them we’ll be on for 180miles or so, so…and being my first visit to the States I’d love to see New York City.

How much will it cost approximaitely in fuel and tolls to travel from San Antonio to New York?

A: I would guess not more than $35 in tolls. A slight change in your route can sometimes cut out lots of tolls. Figure an average price for fuel is $2.60/gallon along the highways. Look up yahoo maps to find the mileage and multiply that by the miles per gallon the vehicle gets times $2.60.
When I fly to Europe I always leave from NY- you might think of meeting them there and riding back with them instead of flying all the way to texas.

Q: What is the best automotive shop in San Antonio, Texas?
I live in San Antonio, Texas and I need to take my car in for an oil change and to have it checked out to see if anything needs to be replaced. I’m looking for a VERY reliable shop with GREAT service. Does anybody know a good automotive shop in San Antonio, Texas? Thanks and God Bless!
My car is a 1994 Acura Integra LS, all stock.

A: I don’t live in San Antonio. But I can give you the same advice I give other people. Ask people you go to church with. Ask your kid’s school teacher. Ask your co workers. Where do they go. Most importantly why do they go there. Have they been taking their cars there for years? Do they take all their cars there? Have they ever had any trouble with that shop, and if so, was it remedied in a fair manner.

You are looking for a garage that has been in business for years and that people take their cars there regularly. Not just because they get a good deal, but because they get good work. And the shop stands behind their work. Don’t be afraid to ask people where they go to. And when you decide where you want to go make sure you tell that shop “Mr and Mrs. so and so recommended you”. This puts the garage on their best behavior because now they run the risk of upsetting 2 customers with one car.

Also try to get a feel of how long that shops mechanics have worked their. If the garage treats their employees well, the employees tend to treat the customers well.

Once you have found a shop recommend them to others as well.

Q: Does San Antonio, Texas have easy to use public transportation?
I’m visiting a relative who will be graduating from basic training at Lackland air force base in Texas. I’m wondering if it’s easy to get to the base from San Antonio’s city center without having to rent a car. I’d like to use public transportation during the trip to hit most tourist spots and the air force base. Is that possible?

A: Yes there are buses that go to Lackland. You may have to do a bit of walking, however, to get from the base entrance to the graduation. Bus 65 takes you to Lackland, and 611, 612, 613, 614, and 615 take you by there. I suggest that you take a taxi from time to time or have one of his friends’ parents or friends drive you around a bit. It’s a bit of a hike.

As far as downtown goes… All the tourist attractions are really close together, so you’ll have no problem.

Q: Help! Single mom with an upside down payment on a vehicle that needs engine replaced, insurance didn’t accept
In May of 2007 I broke my ride and still own it. In San Antonio 2007 it rained so much, too much, it flooded out my car. So here are the chains of events which lead to my car being an issue. My car got flooded
•Was towed and dried out-worked but ticked
•Brought to an oil shop to drain water-
•Oil shop never removed oil-
•Car breaks-
•Get quoted for engine replacement and motor cost-$3,650
•Claimed to insurance
•Apparently was in between coverage when incident occurred (no INS coverage at time of incident)-got lawyer to lawsuit oil repair shop
•Fired lawyer (got ripped-off)
•Stuck making payments on a broke vehicle
So what can I do?
I’m a young college student, single momma all on her own, no child support or government (not by choice), and well luckily I’m pretty and it pays the bills. Yet this one I haven’t been able to fix since May, I need to fix it! Just want to know if I should fix (if so how to pay for that), trade it in with bad credit, or just pray for a miracle to help me? I need a vehicle to make income, to achieve goals, to take my son to the hospital when he gets ill; I just want my ride or a ride at a rate I can afford, how can I get that to get my life back?

The car is a 2003 Chevy Malibu with 150000 miles on estimate; don’t get to see it often as it sits on my folk’s driveway. It has an upside down loan out on it, the repairs are to replace engine and motor is locked. I’m looking for a way to fix it that is cost efficient for my status or to trade it in without having to pay monthly payments that are insane for a new to me vehicle( looking for cheap payments) I need a vehicle for work purposes, childcare, and to go to school. What are some ways to fix my predictment that what I’m inquiring? I’m all alone with no help, I’m seeking advice or actual people whom can help me achieve a better outcome than what I’m dealing with. What should I do?

How can I get a car going, in desperate need of one or some advice????
I’m looking for good heart and suggestion as to how I can fix this issue, not rude comments. Please I have already enough stress, I’m seeking advice as to how to fix mine, thats all. Not nasty comments.
Reminder I’m asking about how to fix my car and the problem I’m facing. Sorry if I offended anyone by having a good self esteem and confidence I’m not willing to loose over having problems.

A: You could call some shops and get prices to put a used engine in the car, would be cheaper. If the whole car was flooded I would expect alot more trouble with the rest of it after the engine is fixed, maybe not worth fixing.

Q: Houston for a city break?
I live in the UK, but have been to most big North American cities, NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington, Chicago etc… and I have enjoyed them all immensely. I like wandering around, discovering neighborood, going to museums, and the nightlife.

My brother has been on a press trip to Texas 3 times now, each time stopping in Houston, and he is raving about it. He said there are lots of galleries, theatre and art, the bars are great and it’s cheap compared to other cities. Plus he doesn’t drive yet he seems to have managed

But the odd thing is the few colleagues of mine who have been all said it was dull and sprawling, and a definite no without a car.

My brother is a busy man and I don’t see him much so can’t ask him to go into too much details but what do you think, if you live there or know the city? I take it my brother stayed in the Galleria area as everything seems within walking distance there

I mean I could go back to Chicago or something but was keen to do something different, I thought about 4 nights in Houston and then maybe 3 nights in San Antonio.

And by the way what is the weather like in November?

A: Yes your brother is right Houston has all that stuff, but your friends are right too. Houston is spread out and a car is good to have.

The Galleria area is great for upscale shopping, bars, and resturants.

A better choice for someone without a car might be any where along the light rail line which serves Downtown, Theatre District, Museum District, Houston Zoo, Hermann Park, and the Medical Center.

The Hotel Zaza would be a good choice, it is centrally located in the Museum District.

http://www.hotelzazahouston.com/houston-boutique-hotels.php

San Antonio is a great place too. Stay Downtown in one of the many Hotels along the Riverwalk.

Texas is very HOT in the Summer time. Best time to visit is Fall or Spring.

Q: What should I do about my room mate?
I have a question that I would like to ask and possibly get help with the problem. My husband and I moved to San Antonio in 2007, so my husband could go back to school. We moved our child and us into a small apt and rented it for about 2 years. My husband has finished school and is on his journey to building a career in his industry. Our friend moved to this area a year ago with his brother and a friend. They rented a huge house and a few months later our friend was left alone, in a lease, with no room mates. Immediately, he started asking us to move in. Well in January, our friend decided he wanted to go back to school, and asked again if we would roomy with him and we finally gave in because going to school was such a positive experience, and he was such a good friend, we thought “hey lets lend a helping hand.” However, we were wrong because we never fully discussed everything.
Well as SOON as we moved in, he completely changed. He started acting like a dictator, is manipulative and VERY passive aggressive. He began acting like “he was helping us” and saying that “he cut our bills in half” well actually we are paying MORE. He insists that he gets the master bedroom, private bathroom, and the computer room–while my husband and I have a small one person bedroom and my son gets an even smaller room, BUT he claims that his “Master” bedroom is 35 square feet LESS than our TWO bedrooms (plus we have a child on the way)
Now, he buys has this HUGE TV, a Monster computer and he insists the we use HIS TV, we have a 42 inch Plasma 720P and he has a 62 inch DLP HDTV. However, he is hardly here and will not allow us to change the TV so that we can save a few dollars on the energy bill.
He also has a girlfriend that spends more then half of her time here and MOANS as loud as she can, practically screaming, so the entire house (including my husband and 3 year old) can hear her at all hours of the day. She showers here, uses the internet and eats. Oh did I mention that he hands us maybe 40 bucks a month for food, and then proceeds to eat my 3 YEAR OLDS food!! Drinks the milk, uses all the sugar and even will grab the pizza box if we bought pizza, the of course he didn’t chip in for. He takes bath tissue from my bathroom, uses my entire bottle of windex cleaning his girlfriends car, uses all my bleach, takes my clothes out of the washer to wash his clothes, leaves them soaking wet, while he washes his clothes, and then leaves for 3 hours, so either A.) I have to finish his laundry or B.) wait 3 hours and stay up all night finishing them. Did I mention I am 8 months pregnant????
His girlfriend and him lay all over my couch, and my husband and I have to sit on his small couch.
He thinks he is entitled to the food because he believes that he should only pay 1/3 of the bills, but doesn’t even consider his girlfriend!
Now his girlfriends grandmother got sick, so they stayed at her place for 3 weeks, and I just know he is going to try to get out of his portion of the bills. He also moves our stuff without asking, threw a party while we went away and had his 19 year old friend (he is 29) puking all over of my bathroom, and used my 30 dollar show towel to clean up dirt, and I had clean cheap towels in the closet!! He also insults me, constantly. He even insulted the kind of FOOD I BUY!!!

Granted that my husband works from home, I do not work–so all 3 of us are always here, constantly using the energy, TV and so forth…I am sure we are ALWAYS here and my son can be loud and messy, heck so can we! But I DO NOT feel like I should pay 2/3 of the bills!! Why should I pay for his appliances that he cannot afford? Or pay to feed him and his girlfriend? Or live in small bedrooms while they live like kings of the house?? There is also NO talking to him, he is so passive aggressive, he avoids us when we try to talk to him, and then does what he wants with OUR stuff when we aren’t looking, even using our food.

So, we told him we were moving out and he was angry about it. I feel bad because I know he cannot afford this place. I also know that he will give up on school, when his last job let him go and basically told him he was a “used car salesman” which I do not feel is right!
He is trying to impress his 19 year old girlfriend, and has begun acting like a 19 year old!
Am I wrong? Should I change my opinion?
BTW: The money he hands us for food, he gets specific food, we buy him his own “stuff” which he eats all of and then starts on our food.

A: First, you moved in there to help him . He can start paying for everything . He’s an adult and needs to take responsibility for him self . You can’t feel bad for someone who takes advantage of others and has no problem doing so . And in most cases the people who are paying more of the rent usually get the bigger room . He can find new roommates if he wants and see how long he can treat them like that . I say , you have a family and should be in a place of your own . Your child shouldn’t have to suffer and besides , you’ll need a bigger place when your baby comes . So , don’t feel bad . He’s the one who took advantage of YOU .

                          Good Luck

Q: What air line is better to fly with?
We are going on a family vacation and i want to buy the tickets as soon as possible but it’s only for me and my 2 going to be 3 year old niece. We are usually a driving family but no one wants to drive 26 hours with a 2 year old in a car. I have only been on Continental and it was nice but i want something a little cheaper to Mc Allen texas if possible if not to San Antonio TX. HELP!!
Im sorry im leaving from Chicago and going to Mexico my family will meet me in McAllen to take us to Mexico.

A: Since it’s a regional flight I would probably go with Delta or Southwest (if possible)
Southwest has the cheapest fares and extra luggage is cheap.
Delta probably has a cheap fare as well and also has many planes going to the same location at once especially non-stop ones.
Lastly It also depends on what time of day you’re flying if it’s around lunch or dinner time gocwith Delta they have really good food but sometimes can be greasy.
REMEMBER ITS YOUR CHOICE NOT OURS TO PICK YOUR FLIGHT!!!!

Q: Im in a hurry and need some help!?
About an hour ago I just found out my uncle the man who practically raised me got in a horrible car accident and died. I live in New York and my whole family lives in San Antonio, TX. They all won’t me there like by tomorrow and im broke. I need to know what the cheapest way I can get there is. I know it is cheaper to fly into Austin but I need more help I want to leave tomorrow and come back home on the 20th I would fly out of Syracuse, NY. If anyone can give some advice that would be great. My family really needs me.

A: AirTran is going to offer the cheapest flights. Maybe the family that want you there now can help out on the expenses.

Sorry for the lose.

Flights will cost a bit more because you are not booking in advance. Call the travel agents at the airline you choose and let them know the situation and they will help you choose the best possible flight plan.

Q: Can I sue my ex fiance for damages?
I need help…please no smart remarks. Thank you

So, I have been dating my ex fiance for a year now. About four months ago he convince me to leave my job and move in with him 250 miles away. I stupidly said yes. I quit my job and I moved in with him. He then later convince me to cut off my cell. He said it was cheaper if he add me to his plan. I agreed. Now by this time we were already engaged and living together. We even had accounts together. He then convince me to sell my car. He said that as a wedding present he had bought me a vehicle. I did. Everything was perfect. I thought he was the one. Then things changed. I found out he cheated on me on the night he put his hand on me. Yes he hit me and then confess that he had slept with a girl off the street. I left him. I had to move back to san antonio and restart my life. He cut off the cell phones and now he wants his jeep back. I just moved back and used the little money i had to rent. I am currently looking for a job. The jeep is under his name. I know, I know I should have made him put it under my name. He keeps calling me and my family. He changes his mind every hour. He text me that he is sorry for cheating and hitting me and that I can keep the Jeep. Then he text me that he is going to report the Jeep stolen. I don’t think this is fair. I know the best thing to do is to just give it to him and move on. But its not fair. I lost so much in this. I trusted him. I loved him. I am so stupid. I let him convince me to get rid of my things because I thought he was right. I later found out that he did this to feel in control. So that if for any reason I wanted to leave him I couldn’t. So that when he wanted to leave me he would leave me with nothing.

My question is. Can I sue him for damages? Can I sue him for anything? I have text messages were he tells me to keep the Jeep. I have so many text messages of him insulting me and telling me that I had nothing before him and how I will have nothing after him. He keeps calling me. He keeps calling my mother. He keeps calling my brother. He cant get away with this. Its not fair. Please I need some legal advice.
Thank you.

A: No. You can’t sue him for “damages.” You haven’t really been acting like it, but you are an adult. You are responsible for your own decisions . . . and for the reasonably foreseeable consequences of those decisions. “It’s not fair” might be your mantra – but it doesn’t create a legal case and it doesn’t mean that you get a payday because you were foolish. Frankly, you are fortunate that you got out when you did. It’s extremely common for a woman in your situation to have a couple of kids and five to ten years of being unemployed when she finally leaves. If you think you have “nothing” right now – imagine what your situation would have been like in a few years.

What can you do? Change your cell number so he no longer has it. Send him a letter advising him that you do not want him to contact you or any of your family members anymore otherwise you will be required to obtain an anti-harassment (protection) order against him.

As far as the ownership of the jeep? Did you trade your vehicle in to obtain the jeep? Did you contribute financially in any way to get this jeep? If you sold your car and the money was used for other things and then HE bought the jeep, then chances are pretty good you will not get to keep it unless you can convince a judge that he gave you the jeep in exchange for something other than an expectation that the two of you would be getting married. He cannot report the jeep stolen – because this is a civil matter. If his is the only name on the title, he can come and get the jeep. But either of you can sue the other over the ownership of the jeep – and you just having your name on the jeep would NOT mean that you would automatically get to keep it.

Q: Where can I get a great tint job for my car in San Antonio, Tx, for a cheap price?
