Q: How much does it cost to ship a car from Houston, Texas to Bogota, Colombia?
I will most likely be moving to Bogotá, Colombia in September of 2010. I would like to know how much it would cost to ship my car: 2009 Honda CR-V. Also, would it be smarter to sell my car and buy another one once i get to Bogotá? I hear that cars in Colombia are more expensive than they are here.

A: well is true car n Colombia are little more expense if you look in the “revista motor” will tell you how much is the price running for each model and year, something like the “blue book ” in US.
about shipping you car it will be between 500 and 1000 , but in top of that you need pay the import customs”arancel” what increase you price a lot and put the car same value in Colombia.
the CR-V 2010 was 100′000,000 of colombian pesos in august when I was there what in dollars was equivalent some around 50,000 US dollars and O miles.

due Colombia topography the car must all time run with mechanical transmissions or standard, the automatic transmission go faster and repairing are so expense ,and due the mountains system it will no be the best choice to drive and automatic car in Colombia.

In Colombia the engine cars are repairing in full, so making the old cars have very much a new engine,(rebuilt).

Q: Is it illegal to have a radar detector in your car in houston texas?

A: It is not illegal to have a radar detector in Houston. If you are looking to get one, do not bother with one that detects LIDAR, also known as Laser, it is a waste of money. If the detector is detecting it, it is only because the laser is pointed directly at you and has already obtained a speed clock.

Q: where can i sale parts of my car in houston, texas.?
i just got into an accident and i need some money to pay for the repairs to the other car…long story. so i decided that i would look into selling parts of my car, and if it were profitable, then i’d do that and just buy a new car later instead of fixing it. so is there anyone that can help me by telling me the best place i can go do this? thanks in advance!

A: You culd start taking it apart properlayan selling pieces either on ebay or craigslist.org. Why dont you just sell it as one and take a lower payment but less hassle. Then go by a used honda or toyota. Good Luck

Q: What Steps Do I take to Register my Car in Texas (Houston)?
Normally I just go to the DMV but was told I need to do 3 steps…Help!

A: I just got a vehicle registered here so I’m pretty fresh on this!

STEP ONE: Insure vehicle with Texas policy
STEP TWO: Get vehicle inspected (just about every auto shop, oil change place, or tire company offers these) and get a ‘Green Slip’. Take great care of this Green Slip that they will give you.. it’s basically the official certification that your car is in good enough condition to be registered here. Don’t bend it, fold it, let it get crinkled, ANYTHING.
STEP THREE: Go to the DMV or County Clerk and pay your fees. You’ll have to pay for new resident if you’re just moving here, which is about $90, plus $50 for the registration fee, state taxes, and plate fee.. all in all, it’s around $280 just to them.

And then you’re done!

Q: Expired registration and inspection in houston texas, car towed help?
Okay so here’s what happened. I was driving my car even though my registration and inspection were expired. I ran out of gas and pulled my car onto the shoulder of the freeway. I grabbed my gas can and walked to the gas station that was just off the feeder. When I returned with a gallon of gas 10 minutes later my car was gone. I immediately called 911 and they dispatched two officers who took down the license plate number and registered the car as stolen. They told me, just in case, to call the houston tow line to see if it’s been towed. This was Friday, it’s now Thursday the following week and it still hasn’t been registered as towed. With no gas in the tank, however, the only logical explanation is that whoever “stole” it had a tow truck to move it with.

I didn’t inform the officers that the vehicle registration had expired. Not to mention, the car title AND my vehicle registration renewal letter were both in the glove box of the vehicle.

My question is, even though the VIN# has been reported stolen, is there a chance it was still towed? The fact that it was parked on the shoulder of the freeway and the registration was expired(meaning there was, at the time, no registered owner) would have qualified it as abandoned, but would it not have turned up already seeing as how it’s been reported as stolen? If it was towed, is the reason it hasn’t been registered in the city’s system as towed due to the fact that the registration is expired? And who would I contact to find out exactly where my car is, if it was towed and not registered, and how to get it back?

A: How in the world do expect anyone here to know whether your car was stolen or towed?

Q: We want to hire a car in Houston Texas for 3mths can anyone recommend a reliable company?

Q: Are blue neon lights legal inside a car in texas or in houston?
I want to know if neon lights can be used inside a car and if its legal before i instal them. can they also be used when the car is moving are white neon bars legal

A: As long as the light is not visible to other vehicles. If you have them on the floor or something… that should be fine however if they are illuminating your face or the interior, you can be cited. Texas state law states that only white or amber light can emit from the front of your vehicle. Only red, white or amber from the rear. It doesn’t really cover what can emit from the sides however if it can be seen from the sides, it can probably be seen from the rear. I have done the whole neon thing man and really, it was more hassle than it was worth. I got pulled over three times, then they kept breaking. They caused me more grief than pleasure. Save your money for a down payment on your next car.
