Q: Is there anyone selling cars or a car or suv for under 2500 in the austin texas area?
I’m a single mom of two struggling to looking for a good reliable transportation for me and my children to get around. Please help!

A: it is hard to find a car that is reliable for that price. I would recomend auction places not online, but IRL.

here is a list of things I have found.

http://austin.craigslist.org/car/

http://www.automotive.com/used-cars/classifieds/87/texas/austin

http://texas.ezclassifieds.com/d-268/Used-Cars-Values.htm?afn=1378&csn=texas&Geo=46

www.ebay.com

www.bluebook.com

Autos.yahoo.com

www.carbuyer.com

I would also recomend to see if you can find help here.

www.govbenefits.gov

This looks good too.

Q: Is there any realtor or builder in Austin that will take a home as a trade in for a new one? Like w/ cars?
We have a home and want a larger one for hopeful increase in family size. However, we do not want the stress of selling and then buying. One step would be so very nice. I know one of the builders did something like this around 10 years ago but it appears they are no longer in business and I am hoping someone else has the same type of option.

A: Hm. I’ve never heard of one. Might check the Chronicle’s or Statesman’s classifieds, though.

Q: Where can I buy an AUSTIN AMERICA CAR?
Ever since I saw one drive past me on New Years Eve I completely loved the car and wanted one for myself. Well, to my misfortune they are really hard to find. I’ve tried all the car add websites and waited for a new post on the Austin America website, but no luck. How do you think I can get my hands on one of these cars?

A: You do understand these have not been made for many years. And parts are impossible to get. If ever there was an orphan car, that would be it.

Q: Are old Austin mini coopers worth buying, like the 1986-1988 ones and are they classic cars to show off with?
im 23, will the car give a good image, im currently looking to buy one which is black, been resprayed and looks nice and clean.

A: Mini themselves have a great image i had a 1979 Mini 1000 many many years ago.it got a lot of respect and they still have a good following.

An idea of there popularity.

http://www.miniinthepark.co.uk/

Q: Why do people hate Austin- Rover cars?

A: they are expensive and they break down alot. they are very expensive to repair.

Q: Where can I find some project cars for good prices?
For my first car I would like to get a project car to fix up! I’m looking on the web and can’t find anything. To be specific I am looking cars like classic cars like woodys, mustangs, maybe if it’s cheap enough, a ferrari (i doubt this is possible), but if you have an idea or answer please answer. Or maybe some other classics like austin healys, cars like this, and karman gias. Thanks!

A: Just write key words in google, like used cars. vintage cars, classic cars. Web sites will appear.

Q: Is it Possible to go to School in Austin or Phoenix without a Car?
I’m not going to be able to take my car with me when I transfer out of state from Richmond,Virginia. I am looking at schools out of state and would like to work, live and go to school in either downtown Phoenix, Arizona or Austin, Texas.

Is it possible to live without a car in either cities and still have a fun life. A lot of college students here in Richmond don’t have cars so they have to make friends with people with cars, and/or only work, play and live downtown.
Also in Richmond there are lots of jobs, and leisure activities downtown and we are a city of only over 200,000. So, aren’t I right in assuming downtown Austin and Phoenix will have even more opportunities for young non-drivers?
* I will be living on campus only for a while as well.

A: Phoenix has a GREAT public transit system. I went to college there with no car and it was a breeze. There is a bus for every major street and lots of minor ones too. There are plenty of express routes as well and now they also have a light rail. You can get a monthly bus pass for cheap and they’re pretty darn reliable time-wise. Because of all the colleges in the area, there are also a lot of starter jobs for college students.

You also need to keep in mind that the transit system stretches to Tempe as well so it’s not like it keeps you stuck within Metro Phoenix. Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Peoria, etc are all easily reachable via public transport. Public transport is never a 100% clean or creepy people free experience, but compared to a lot of cities, Phoenix has a great system going. I used it the entire time I was going to college there and never had a problem. Sometimes I’d even bike part way and throw my bike on the front of the bus for part of the ride. Because it’s so hot in the summer, they really have to have a good public transit system or no one would get anywhere =) You can’t walk or bike when it’s 120.

For the first summer you’ll be telling people “DRY HEAT MY @$$!!!!” but you will get used to it. The first time you fly home to Richmond during the summer, you’ll see what I mean. I was always poo-pooing “dry heat” until I stepped off a plane in Chicago when it was 89 (100% humidity) and I couldn’t breathe. You don’t sweat when it’s 120 in Phoenix either. Well, you do, but because of the low humidity it just evaporates. You’re hot, but you’re not uncomfortable.

Q: How can i get my car to austin from houston with out a registration sticker?
i have a car that my grandparents just bought for me but i need to get it registered in austin so that i can drive it. Are there any exceptions with the law that will allow me to do so until i get the sticker next week?

A: Auto Registration in the state of Texas covers the entire state – in other words, you don’t have to have it registered in a specific city… All that matters is that you get it registered to your name and your current address. If you register at the DMV, you’ll get paperwork that shows that you registered the car in case you get pulled over on your way back to Austin.

Q: How to registered a japanese car in Austin,Texas?
I imported an 1997 Honda civic hatchback SiR into Austin, I have the bill of landing and bill of when the car was purchased in Japan. I heard that If I have the title I can claim or do a bonded title. But since my car didn’t come with a title what can I do to get it registered?. Can I file a “lost title” for my car, I’d have the “bill of landing” and the bill of the car being purchased. Would those paperwork be enough? Any replies would be helpful!

A: You do not have a “lost title” situation. You can go to the County Tax office on Airport and get the paperwork for a title to register in Texas.

http://www.dot.state.tx.us/services/vehicle_titles_and_registration/county_tax_offices/default.htm

First-time Registration
If you are registering your vehicle for the first time in Texas, there are two things you need to do:

Get your vehicle officially inspected for safety at an approved station and receive a Vehicle Identification Certificate of Inspection. Approved stations and garages will have a sign posted stating that they are an official inspection station.
Go to your local County Tax Assessor-Collectors office with proof of ownership (i.e., the title) and insurance, and apply for your registration stickers. These stickers show the expiration month on the left and the expiration year on the right, along with a serial number. They cannot be transferred to any other vehicle and must stay with the car you registered.
These registration stickers are valid for one year. But to save yourself time and trouble, you can prepay for two or even three years. In this case, you will automatically be sent the new stickers each year.

Q: Race windshield cars Austin Healey help?
I want to put a race window on my Datsun roadster or MG kinda like the one on the Healey (see link below) If I could put a Healey window tha’d be so sweet because it’s adjustable. Does anyone know where/how I do this? Where can I buy race shields………….thanks!!!

http://www.drawn2gether.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/1956_austin_healey_100_4_bn2_roadster_front_1.jpg

A: which roadster do you have the four or the six cylinder, You could have one fabricated out of lexan, original healy examples will be very expensive

Q: Where can i find/buy used police cars that are in disuse?
I’m looking for a used police car in Austin TX i looked in the local surplus stores online but they didn’t have what i needed.

also i believe that they hold there old disused cars elsewhere i’m not really sure
thx for the responses i’ll look into those but i was originally searching for an actual location?

A: Public surplus vehicle auctions are held a number of times a year by local, county, state, and federal governments, which includes police cars. Here’s an article with more about it:

http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/surpluscars.htm

.

Q: Is it still possible to drive in Austin, TX? Are there any streets there that are closed to cars?

A: What streets are closed to cars? Occasionally 6th street?

Q: What is the best/cheapest way to get a VERY small car (Austin MINI) from Ontario to WA state?
What’s the deal with hiring “brokerage”, etc?

A: Drive it. All other ways will cost a lot more.

Q: Used Cars Dealers For Senior Citizens Austin TX?

A: It’s normally much better to get good used vehicle from a NEW Car Dealership than buy a car from a used car lot.

Q: Cars similar to the Austin Healey Sprite?
I’m going to be getting a new car soon, and I’ve been looking at classic convertible cars. My absolute favorite has been a 65′ Austin Healey Sprite (not the bug-eyed ones). However I don’t think it is quite the right car for me because one, it is an old British car so parts will be expensive, and two, its definitely on the small end of cars.
So does anybody know of a car that looks somewhat like the Sprites but larger and if possible American made? I’m not looking for huge cars, but the Sprites look oddly small to me.
This is an Austin Healey Sprite: http://www.shannons.com.au/library/images/auctions/VA3644CD8BSA45G0_medium.jpg

And if there is no such car, any suggestions for cute classic cars that are on the more affordable end would help me out too.

A: the closest one is the mini cooper

Q: where can i find a cheap classic muscle car for sale in austin,TX area not on ebay or craigslist?

A: “Cheap” and “Classic Muscle Car” are generally mutually exclusive, unless the car needs a lot of work.

It also depends on what you consider a classic. Even though 85-89 Mustangs are 19-24 years old, they are not classic muscle cars to me. That doesn’t mean that I don’t like them, but if it came with catalytic converters outside of California, its not a classic muscle car to me.

Camaros are generally the cheapest, due to higher production numbers over lots of years.

Q: Where is a good used car dealership is austin, TX?
I need to buy a sedan car for under $5000 that I will pay for in cash. I have been looking under craigslist but not that many car have been for sale on there. I want to go to a used car dealership that it fair priced. I live in Austin, TX. thanks all!

A: You know most car lots with used cars are untrust worthy and cars are in bad condition. Try major car lots for their trade-ins they usually won’t sell a car if it won’t last 10 years and offer some kind of warrenty and there repairs are usually gauranteed. For five thousand you should be able to walk away with a good car and you would deal with the best professionals and know who your buying from. So maybe try contacting them and see if they have used trade-ins you could purchase.

Q: anyone know any smaller dealerships in austin texas that has beetles for sale?
Like I don’t really want an up to date one
just a really cheap one I get financing on?
I don’t want to go to a big car dealership

A: http://www.autotrader.com

Q: Are Austin-healey sprite Mk1 still sold?
What are the odd that i’ll be able to find the car for sale in the US .. and how much would it go for?

A: $5000-$20,000

Q: if I were to buy a house in Austin What street and bus number near by you recommend?
Theer are a lot of homes for sale in Austin however, I need to know which street and bus number that goes to downtown Austin? I cannot drive a car and so I would have to use the bus to get around Austin. I saw the metro bus schedule online but I jusdt do not know the street very well in Austin. It would be great if you can suggest me a home that is nearest to the bus stop that have the most buses line even if it just one bus number that fine with me but would be nice to get as much bus number to the nearest bus stop within walking distance from home to bus stop that will take me to downtown Austin? thank you Matt

A: I would recommend you talk to a reputable realtor and tell them that you need transportation by bus. Then the houses that they show you will be near bus stops. Some areas of the city have bus stops closer than others. Austin has a very good public transportation system. I lived there previously, am moving back soon and have two grown sons that live there. During a couple of years that I lived there my best friend and I used the Capital Metro bus system a great deal to get around town. You might also check by calling Capital Metro System and asking them to send you a bus schedule and getting a city map and comparing the two. Sometimes you would need to take one bus and transfer to another. If you need to do this in order to get to downtown it is usually easy but a little more time consuming. If you ask the driver for a “transfer” they will give you a slip that will allow you to get on another bus without having to pay the fare again. It is really pretty economical. There are some major lines that run down major streets – depends on which area of the city you live in. I would think that Capital Metro offices would be helpful to you, as well as if a realtor really wants to sell you a house they should be good enough to accomodate you by finding homes that are on good bus routes. There is a great deal of difference in walking 1/2 block to the bus stop of 5 or 6 blocks to a bus stop if it is pouring down rain or if it is 100 degrees outside. The closer the better! There are houses and apartments out there that are close. The apartment complex that I lived in when I rode the bus for transportation was also in a residential neighborhood that was served by “The 10″ which went downtown in a very direct way. The right house is out there waiting for you. You do not say why you cannot drive. I do not know whether it is a matter of not being able to drive because you are impaired in some way or because you do not own a car. If there is some sort of impairment that prevents you from driving then you should definitely contact Capital Metro because you can apply for a special bus (or van service) that is provided for people with handicaps. My friend is a heart patient, looks perfectly healthy, but is not a safe driver because of her heart condition. She gets picked up at her door and delivered to the store, medical appointments, social occasions, church—etc. It is truly a good service. If this is the case with you, please check it out. It is there for you. If you just don’t have a car right now, then enjoy the many interesting people you may meet while traversing the city by bus. Austin is a wonderful place to live. I hope you find just the right place.

Q: I’m 13 & need money fast but not online money?
I’m 13 Austin Texas(just in case it will help)I need money fast because I asked my parents for money but right now we got in a fight & they wont give me money so I desided to earn money myself.I need money to go to houston with my friends this summer.I got the accept from my parents but I need the money I know some ideas like:babysitting, washing cars, garage sales, etc.Any more ideas I did the garage sale & earn $67.So more Ideas, & thank you all for your support

A: good question. I have the same one. lol. but i would have to say is watch biz kid$, you might get some ideas. like there were some girls in ur situation and they made and sold soap. they have many ideas on how to make a business it really helped me. here is a list of things i can think of:
make a site and sell ur stuff like me www.freewebs.com/mylittlestore/
make jewelry
make keychains
lemonade stand
and thats all i can think of right now

Q: I am thinking about moving to Austin TX?
My wife and I car considering moving to Austin TX. She has a job offer there working for a major hotel chain as a national sales manager. My question is how is the job market in Austin.

A: Depends on your field. If you work with computers – the market is GREAT! We have Dell, IBM, and Apple here. (Not to mention Nvidia, and a ton of gaming companies.)

For those of us that didn’t go to college, the job market is a bit limited right now.

I would suggest checking Craigslist to see what’s available for someone with your skills.

Q: I’m 13 & I need money fast?
I’m 13 Austin Texas(just in case it will help)I need money fast because I asked my parents for money but right now we got in a fight & they wont give me money so I desided to earn money myself.I need money to go to houston with my friends this summer.I got the accept from my parents but I need the money I know some ideas like:babysitting, washing cars, garage sales, etc.Any more ideas I did the garage sale & earn $67.So more Ideas, & thank you all for your support

A: what about walking dogs for people? My girls do that and make good money. they put up posters in our local grocery store and that is how they find customers. They love dogs and walking so it works out very good. They charge $1.50 for a walk around the block and $2.50 to take the dog to the park and play fetch for 10 minutes and then walk them back.

Also running errands or doing housework for an older person who might not be able to do it for themselves.

selling lemonade and cookies at a corner stand?

good luck!

Q: Mazda 6 for 3,000$.. Is it too good to be true?
While looking at Ciaglist for used cars around Austin, TX, I found a used Mazda 6 for 3,000$ with 47k miles. I replied with an email to the saler which apparently moved to the UK, and now is trying to sale the Mazda 6 for 3,000$. He then tells me, “The car is located in Phoenix, AZ, which is 1,000 miles way. I said I’ll drive there to inspect the car personally, but he then replied with “The car is sealed and ready to be shipped, and I’ve a contact with ebay; I can’t cancel”. He’s also accepting paypal, which I find to be weird since if he was indeed a scammer he’d have gone for wired transfer…

He gave me the VIN number, but anyone can easily fake a VIN # to another car. This car seems to good to be true. What do you guys think?
The guy sent me a private auction through ebay. I don’t see why paypal won’t protect me when I’m buying a item from ebay.

A: Another one???

Do you people not read the big fat link at the top of every CL auto page???

The one that looks like this:

[ OFFERS TO SHIP CARS ARE 100% FRAUDULENT ].

Am I missing something here??? Car offered to be shipped!

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Q: Any Morris/Austin Mini Owners Out There?
I’ve always wanted a 60s Morris or Austin Mini, just for how fun they seem to be. I keep getting told by my parents about their apparent age and they complain about their engines and so on (I’m not a mechanic, for sure), though I’m much more confused about how even a show-quality Mini I’ve seen for sale had a price under my parent’s 2nd most recent cost-limit.

In a nutshell, I’m asking the owners of this type of Mini if they could tell me anything they could see wrong with the car’s performance that could make the cars so ironically unpopular to buy- At least from my point of view. It’d be greatly appreciated!

A: All of the British cars of that era were really poor quality. You may not be a mechanic now, but you will be if you buy one of these. They are also extremely unsafe. The steering column pushes directly into your chest in a frontal collision, no air bags, probably not even seat belts. There is no side collision protection, the brakes are inferior compared to modern cars and the ignition systems are chronically deficient, failing to run right when damp. The carburetors need frequent adjusting and the front suspension wears out rapidly. The present BMW Mini has all of the fun but is much more reliable and safe. Why not look for a used one that fits your budget.

Q: Was I done wrong?
Long story short, I found a car I liked on Craigslist. The seller advertised it for $1500 but came down to $900 as soon as I expressed serious interest. The car was about 200 miles away from me, so I had “Lemon Busters” go out to inspect the car. They said it was fine. So the buyer and I arranged for a day, date, and time to meet to complete the sale. I made travel arrangements (car rental and hotel reservations) down to Austin. The day before I leave, he calls and says that he sold the car for a higher amount to someone who lived in Austin. We had a verbal agreement that I was going to buy the car. Was I done wrong?

A: Verbal agreements dont hold. It`s always first come first serve.

Q: Texas Crazy Laws can you believe these?
Texas Crazy Law

It is illegal to take more than three sips of beer at a time while standing.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Q: Where can I live without a job?
About 7 months ago I lost my job in the car business. I had to move in with my parents close to the Austin, TX area. They live in a country like setting, one bedroom house. My son and I stay in the living room. His bed is in the corner, and I sleep on the couch. I have not been able to get a job. I’m a very experienced receptionist. I have sales experience too. I’m educated. I still attend college at nights and weekends. However, all the sales jobs are until at least 7pm, and I have a pethora of different dr and therapy appointments for my son. I need a job and a place of my own. There are rats and snakes that come into the house. Luckily, none of the snakes have been venemous. However, i’m terrified of them. My parents have expressed they don’t want me there anymore. I applied for housing and I got denied because of the apartment I had to break my lease on when I lost my job. I’ve tried to set up payment arrangements, but they will not work with me. They want it all up front. What do I do? Where can I go?

A: a homeless shelter

Q: Where can i find/buy used police cars that are in disuse?
I’m looking for a used police car in Austin TX i looked in the local surplus stores online but they didn’t have what i needed.

also i believe that they hold there old disused cars elsewhere i’m not really sure
thx for the responses i’ll look into those but i was originally searching for an actual location?

A: Public surplus vehicle auctions are held a number of times a year by local, county, state, and federal governments, which includes police cars. Here’s an article with more about it:

http://www.leaseguide.com/Articles/surpluscars.htm

.

For five thousand you should be able to walk away with a good car and you would deal with the best professionals and know who your buying from. So maybe try contacting them and see if they have used trade-ins you could purchase.

Q: Used Cars Dealers For Senior Citizens Austin TX?

A: It’s normally much better to get good used vehicle from a NEW Car Dealership than buy a car from a used car lot.

Q: Which are the best certified used car dealers in austin, TX to buy a used Honda Civic?

A: If you want a true “Honda Certified” Civic, then you must go to a Honda dealer.

I dealt with all three in Austin at one time or another. First Texas Honda was, in my opinion, the best. They never pressured us, had an excellent service department, and a decent selection.

Q: Where in Austin Tx is the best used car lot for bad credit?
I need a reliable used car. I have bad credit and little to put down. Need a vehicle asap. Help!

A: 1) If you are living in Austin, they have a fantastic bus system with routes that go just about everywhere in the city (It’s also free to people taking courses at the community college there or at UT). If you are traveling beyond Austin, renting a car may prove cheaper (if it is a short trip) or else taking Greyhound.

2) As to used car “lots” you might find a better deal off craigslist.com or ebay.com (motors). New car dealers will often sell used cars but they tend to be higher priced than buying from individuals. The local papers in Austin frequently have a classified ads section listing used cars for sale.

3) If you do go to a dealer, remember to haggle, and also remember you will pay significantly more for having bad credit (instead of a 3-7 % interest rate, you may pay closer to 20% — making your car that much more expensive).

Q: Best places to find a new and used car in Austin?

A: http://austin.craigslist.org/

http://cars.statesmanclassifieds.com/autos?property=austin_v1&tp=austin_v2&temp_type=search&tl=1&classification=search

http://www.carmax.com

Q: where can i buy used coin operated car wash and laundry machines in austin/san antonio area?
i need three or four washers and dryers and replace 2 car wash bays. thank you.

A: try the local Sears the ones in Orange County, CA have them in the store otherwise they can probably order them for you.

Q: Any good car dealerships around Austin, TX?
Hi there,

I moved to Austin, TX and I am planning to replace my older car later this year. What is a good new/used car dealership around here. I’m probably looking for Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Mitsubishi dealerships.

Thanks

A: Try Carmax, when I moved to Houston that’s where I bought my car

Q: I’m buying a mitsubishi eclipse used car. Which color would cost me the least?
Assume that I have a few cars with exact same features but they all differ in color. Which color would be the least expensive and which one would be the most expensive?
I am in Austin Texas.

A: Color should not matter at all since both are used. What should matter is the condition of the paint and the car in general. Some cars come out with a special edition only paint or a one of a kind paint in their car line up. Those cars usually cost more. A white Eclipse will be cheaper compared to a sunset pearlescent pearl colored Eclipse. Limited Edition paint jobs…yes they cost more! Other than that, it should not really matter.

Q: Planning to buy a Used Honda civic or Toyota Corolla in Austin – tips please?
My budget is 7000$ and the car should be no older than 2000.
The mileage should be less than 130000 miles.
1) Should I go to a dealer? If yes, which ones are good?
2) Should I buy from an individual? If yes, are there any classifiedes sites I can look?
3) If I buy from an individual, what checks do I need to do to ensure the quality of the vehicle?

A: You will get a bettor price from a private seller. Find a shop that will look the car over for you and tell you if any thing is wrong. The private owner may have records showing when the oil was changed if a timing belt was changed etc. Look for a car owned by a family not some kid. It won’t be beat on as hard. You can eye ball a private owner and tell if he/she takes care of there stuff or not. Either car is a very reliable car. The thing is find one that has been taken care of.

Q: Where can I exchange Euros into dollars in the Austin area?
I went to Germany about 2 years ago, and I don’t anticipate going in the near future so I thought it was time to exchange them and use them for college or a used car.

A: Too bad that you waited this long to exchange them. The Euro is much stronger now against the dollar than 2 years ago. Most banks exchange foreign currency. You should be able to find one close. Trying calling your bank.

Q: what do you call the text effect used in that 70’s show and austin powers and pimp my ride?
the one where the text follows a certain pattern like a car or a van. just like the one found in scooby doo. actually, the exact effect used in writing scooby doo’s name.

A: Bell Bottom Laser?
The site has tons of that sort of style.

Q: What is a nice neighborhood/apartment complex near UT (Austin) with no car but willing to use mass transit.?
My sister just accepted a fellowship at UT (Austin) and needs to find a place to stay. Neither of us know much about TX. She does not have a car (she’s always lived in large cities with good mass transportation systems). Can anyone recommend neighborhoods she should focus on that are safe, diverse, and an easy commute (by mass transit) to UT?

A: Hyde Park is a good place to look, it’s close to campus (easy bike ride distance) but is still a nice neighborhood and many buses run through it.
Here’s a good map of the neighborhood:
http://austin.smallplanetguide.com/rentals/index.php?p=hyde_park_austin_neighborhood
I wouldn’t call it “diverse”, but it’s a nice neighborhood.
A good bet would be to check out the campus bus lines and see what areas they go. They don’t service the whole city, and the regular bus system has a lot of dead zones, so watch out for that. If she’s not planning on getting a car for things like grocery shopping, entertainment, etc, she’ll want to be closer to the center of town where there’s more stuff in walking distance and more buses that go many different places. And avoid the East Riverside area – there’s lots of campus buses that go there, but it’s not really a nice area (although it is more ethnically diverse than Hyde Park).

Q: In Austin Texas, can you get around fairly easily without a car?
I’m moving to Austin from a very small town (i.e. we have no public transportation at all). I have never ridden a bus (besides a school bus), or used the subway or a taxi cab or anything like that. How difficult is it to get around Austin without a car? I’m not afraid of walking or riding a bike to get where I need to go….it’s just that when I move I probably won’t have access to a car like I do where I live now. Thanks for the help.

A: There is public transportation here that is pretty reliable and nice w/good A/C (cheap as well, but I think they are raising the fees sometime in the future) – but it is pretty limited. Make sure you live somewhere on an active bus line if you’re not going to have a car, because the buses definitely don’t go everywhere. It’s possible to live without a car, but it’s not desirable since the city is so spread out and nearly everyone who lives here does have a car.

Check out http://www.capmetro.org/ – they have all the routes listed with maps and a trip planner where you put in the starting and ending addresses and it will tell you what buses to take and when.

Q: ok i put down 5 grand for a used car but no longer needed the extended warranty…?
well they sent the amount to the wrong bank…well that bank then sent us the check for the refund amount and now the used car dealership that we got the car from is now asking for a check from our back for that refund amount for they can just take that amount off the car…why cant i just keep the check? U kno? We did put down 5 grand and made every payment on time its not like we are not gonna pay them. I think we should be able to keep the check….do any of yall know what the standard policy is for this situation? Do i have to give them then check back to decrease how much i owe on the car? cant i jsut keep it? I hate these guys!!!! If you are in texas and in between san antonio and austin DO NOT buy any cars from the RANDY ADAMS DEALESHIP!

A: To make the contract legal the money has to go the right bank if it went to the wrong one it has to go to the right one. You keeping it is akin to stealing sorry mistakes happen. Its like trying to pay the electric bill and you send the water bill money as well just because the electric company refunded it to you does not mean you don’t still owe the water company. Also there is not a 3 day return policy in Texas.

Q: Donated Cars, Donated Equipment, Charities, And Foundations In Austin, Texas?
I have for quite some time trying to reach out for help, and pleading that someone might have a kind heart and generosity in their soul. I am a 64 year old disabled woman, who happens to have Fibromyalsia. Because I have to rely on Social Security Disability, extra funds are out of the question.I am also the single mom of a wonderful son, who happens to have Cerebral Palsy, and is severely mentally retarded. We have been a team for many years now, and will continue to do so.We are in desperate need of a donated car, DEPENDABLE and RELIABLE is a must. I have to walk everywhere with a cane, and there are many times it is difficult. I am also a cancer survivor, 7 years now, ever so grateful to be here. I’ve tried all organizations that say they donate cars, including freecharitycars.org, but have had no success. I even tried writing a letter to Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, no success there either. They help others on a very large and grand scale, and quite generous. They are good people. Michael Dell is also the founder of Dell Computers,….a gifted and intelligent man.Since I am just one singular person, I have fallen through the cracks, so I have been very unsuccessful in getting help from their foundation. I have tried everything, and every charitable organization and just keep running into walls.
Here’s what I am trying to do,…I am a photographer, and quite good at it. I have a Nikon D5000, and a beauty it is. Of course there are accessories I could use, would improve my work tremendously, but they are not free. I make a couple of bucks here and there, for me and my son. Portrait and candid shots, videos for family celebrations, and the such. I could offer so much more, but I need help. I am desperate for a workhorse of a computer, big hard drive and tons of memory; for film and video editing, this is a must. I have access to fantastic software, but I need a computer that works well and steadily. I could go so much further with my work if I had reliable transportation. Can’t very well propose a job, and be able to deliver and get there.
Here in Austin, there is a wonderful organization called ClearChoice.com, it’s a dental care organization, the talented dentists who run this place is Dr.Roberto Velasco, DDS and Dr. Todd Eggleston, DMD. After my cancer, I had very few teeth left, my gums were inflamed, so I became toothless. At that time I did get dentures, pretty ones at that. In the time that has passed, the gums has shrunk severely and I cannot wear the dentures, no matter what I do.Clear choice offers services that could keep the dentures in place and position, and not move anywhere and everywhere they may very well please. Going for meetings or proposals is out of the question,….tough to come across as presentable when you are toothless,….also difficult to understand in a conversation. I want to do my work, and look after my wonderful son, but I need help.
Hasn’t anyone out there been in a similar position, and someone offered a helping hand?

A: Since you are on line on the net, call The good Samaritans group or Red Cross, etc. Even if they are not related to your requirements, they will be the best people to know where to lead you to.

The other place may be the Church. I understand G Bush is from Texas so he mush be rich enough to at least take care of his fellow “statemen”. I am quite sure he would have ste up a Foundation or something like that.

No harm trying. All the best.

Q: I’m buying a mitsubishi eclipse used car. Which color would cost me the least?
Assume that I have a few cars with exact same features but they all differ in color. Which color would be the least expensive and which one would be the most expensive?

Q: I need to rent a vechile using a visa debit check card what car rentals in Austin Texas accepts debit cards?

A: As long as it has a visa or matercard logo or a logo of a credit card company period, then all of them should

Q: Bought a used car and am unhappy. Can anything be done?
Ok, here’s the deal:

Back on the 5th of January (2010) I bought a used vehicle from a dealership (a Kia dealership) in Austin, Texas. When we went to test drive the vehicle, it wouldn’t start; the battery was dead. The salesman assured me that when cars sit on the lot not being used the batteries get low, and he had it jump started. It ran fine on the test drive and we decided to buy it.
During the little negotiation part with the salesman I asked for a new battery. He said the battery was fine and that if there was a problem I could bring it back and they would replace it.

Ok, no problem. We buy the car (finance with $5,000 down) and drive it home.

It continues to have problems starting (probably the battery I think), and I resign myself to having to take it back to get this dealt with. Well, yesterday, as my wife is driving it, the check engine light turns on and the vehicle gets stuck in 3rd gear. Definite problem! So, first (being the savvy fool I am) I take it to Firestone Auto for a full diagnostics before taking it back (I do NOT trust dealerships). They come back with a dead cell in the battery, and several transmission codes. I take the paperwork with me and return to the Kia dealership with the vehicle.

Thankfully, I bought the extended warranty (which apparently will cover the transmission problems), but not the battery. I am told to go talk to my sales person and that he can get me a battery. So, I speak with my sales guy and he tells me they won’t let me get a new battery and I have to talk to a manager. Manager says no dice.

He tells me that since the battery did not get mentioned during the paperwork stage and since it didn’t get written down there is nothing he can do. He also tells me there are no verbal agreements there.

So, my question is this:
Is there anything I can do to back out of the deal? It has been 25 days since I purchased the vehicle, and I haven’t made a payment yet. I am very unhappy with this dealership, and I feel slighted. If there is anyway I can give the car back and get my $5,000.00 back I would be very happy.

Any advice is appreciated.

A: Find someone to tickle you. It will make you feel happier about your mistake.

If you don’t get it in writing, you don’t have it at all.

Q: Will my car make it from Texas to California?
I have a 1996 buick riviera with a little over a hundred thousand miles on it. with a super charged engine. the brakes were replaced a year and a half ago. I was recently in a minor accident that slightly damaged the front bumper (just scrapes really) VERY slightly buckled the hood, and apparently threw off the entire front of the car so that it’s now tilted about a quarter inch to the driver’s side (according to the insurance company, that is). Despite all that it drives fine and I regularly use it for 2-4 hour road trips. I may need to drive it from austin, texas to los angeles this summer. My family is moving out there. My mother thinks that my car will fall apart and absolutely cannot go, but unless I drive I won’t be able to bring my dog and I will have to find something to do with him for the month+ that i’m out there. Would my car be ok? or is it just too old?

A: We have customers with older vehicles that drive this distance 2 to 3 times a year and all that you need to do is have the mechanic that works on the family vehicles do what we call a (pre-trip) inspection.

This is a bumper to bumper inspection including everything and changing or replacing what is needed with the owners okay and if they say its good then drive in and drive safe…

Q: Car Catalytic Converter…. need help?
Hi, I just got a call from my boyfriend. I just wanted to get someone else opinion. He said that he took our Hyundai Tiburon GT 03′ with 89,000 miles to a auto shop, required for the admissions test he has to pass. They told him that it didn’t pass because of the catalytic converter. It was also going to cost him $800.00 to fix it? Is he getting ripped off? Where can he get it fixed for less? Also we live in Austin Texas… and we recently bought this car, used from a friend. please help, and please no rude comments. Thanks!!!

A: He needs to get another opinion. Catalytic converters can clog up, and eventually wear out, but 89,000 miles sounds way too soon. It is one of the more expensive dealer installed parts in the emissions system, so that may be why this shop is claiming it is the problem. You can get aftermarket catalytic converters for WAY less that $800 from auto parts stores or on the Internet. I smell a rat here.

Remember it is ILLEGAL to throw away a catalytic converter. They are considered a hazardous material, and must be disposed of properly.

Q: So I want to use a Grenade for a shift knob?
I have a dud grenade I bought at a gun show a few years ago and today my brother and I where pondering on the legal side of using it for my shift knob in my car. Would it be illegal to do this? I live in Austin, Texas btw.

A: Nothing illegal I can think of. The top of the grenade is threaded where you screw-in the fuse, and the shifter on your Mustang is threaded to hold the knob, sooo, all you need is a thread adapter to go between the two.

Q: Out-of-state charges on Texas toll roads?
I have an out-of-state license plate on the rental car I’m using. I keep hearing mixed answers about whether or not these roads charge the people with out-of-state plates? The website for it doesn’t tell me, and my rental place is closed right now. Thanks for any help. (I’m using the roads in Austin, TX)

A: The toll is the same, based on car size/type.
Yes they charge out of staters AND in staters, you are paying to use the road.

Q: Why are gas prices so high in America and do you think it is expected to get worse?
I am angry at pretty much every American right now including my own family and the government for incompetence. The reason I say this is because I look at everyone in America that says it is their right to own and drive a car. I am wondering if many Americans decided not to drive then would the cost of gasoline go down? I just came back from China and most people there didn’t even own a car and they used transit like buses, trains, the subway, bicycles, and taxis. I am wondering if Americans are too spoiled and it is our fault and the government for making it too easy to get and drive a car here. There are so many rules and regulations in China on driving a car and here there are hardly none. My question is do you think the problem here is going to get better or worse? Do you think gasoline would go down if there was more public transit here, I live in Austin, Texas and the bus system here pretty much sucks as well as many other parts of the state. Do you think things will change?

A: Yes, I agree with you. Hopefully, with the rise in gas prices, people will start demanding that their elected representatives build alternative modes of transport, like trains and buses. Also, hopefully car companies will start making more efficient cars.

Q: Driver Crash Report CR-2 Form ?
Since i could not find a more appropriate sub-form, so posting under this category. I had a accident last week in austin, texas, it was other party’s fault, the other party accepted it and other party’s insurance co. is taking care of getting my car repaired.

Wanted to know 3 things :

1) Will it affect my Driving history in any way , even though it was her fault and she accepted it ?
2) Since there are some repairs which are going to be done on my car, is it going to appear on my car history, if somebody looks through carfax.com using my car VIN No. ?
3) Lastly cop gave both of us to fill Cr-2 form i.e. Driver Crash report, is it just for the purpose of statistics that they are trying to capture how many accident are happening in county/city/state ? or is it more related with making bad remarks in my history ?

Waiting for your reply.

Regards

Neeraj

A: 1. No it will not affect you or your rates with your insurance company.

2. Yes and No, it depends on the amount of the repairs, for minor repairs no but for major repairs yes.

3. This report is completed by a driver involved in a traffic crash when the crash is not investigated by a law enforcement officer and apparent damage is $1,000 or more or when the crash resulted in injury or death and is used to collection and analysis of traffic crash data..

4. Under state law, crash reports can be released the requester must provide at least two of the following pieces of information..

Date of the crash
Location of the crash
Name of any person involved in the crash

Q: what do ya think of these?
GOOD

Q: Getting closer to a police state?
Recently the Austin Texas police have started using traffic light cameras, running license plates without probable cause to see if the car is insured, taking blood without the permission of people who refuse a breathalyzer test, and now they (the police) are getting machines to check the finger prints of people in the public and on the streets that they (the police) have “probable cause” to suspect of wrong doing or having warrants. My question is this. Do you think that this is violating our civil rights? Do you think that this is a sign that we are indeed moving closer to a police state? Where will it end, or will it?
I am not a criminal, I have no warrants, my car is legal, and I have insurance. I still feel that this is very wrong and is a violation of civil rights here in America!
The sheep, and blind followers are the only ones who do not see this as a violation of our civil rights!
Thomas R. Good point about some of these things however the police are forcing people to give blood! It is a no refusal blood draw!
RAMBO, I have already been stocking up on both!
Thomas R. You are not following me. If you refuse the breath test, the have a judge ready to issue a warrant. Thay then take you to a van or the station wich ever is closest and forcibly draw blood from you while you are being restrained if you refuse that! Thats just the facts. It is a no refusal program that has been used around Halloween and New Years. You have no choice! They draw your blood even if you refuse!
The reason for the blood draw was because of the number of people who refused the breath test. It was then up to the police and court system to prove that they were intoxicated. With this new program they get their proof no matter what! Look it up its Austin Texas. The program has been brought to us by the police chief Art Acevedo by way of California (imagine that)!
We here in Austin call them Vampire holidays when they use the no refusal program! What do they do with the blood? Do they put it in some kind of database?

A: You betcha. The police are increasingly militarized and we are being conditioned to accept the use of military for law enforcement.

Q: Im 19 with no credit, what kind of car could i make payments on?
i live in houston Texas with my parents right now working for DirecTV making about $3000-4000 a month. At the end of this year (2007) i want to quit my job and goto community college (HCC) and then starting the next school year ill be moving in with some friends in Austin and then continue school at their community college. But what i need to know is when i quit my job with my last check plus whatever i can save from now how do i go about getting a car and making payments on it. I would be working parttime someelse here in houston and there in austin after i leave directv to pay for myself and my parents will pick up the car payments.

Is the best route to goto a dealership? used car lots?

i remember somthing about dealerships offering programs for people in college, are those any good?

it would be cheaper to stay home but i want to leave houston and DTV because i dont like working 6 days a week all day long just wasting my life away. id rather goto school and party

A: go to a buy here pay here car lot. they don’t check your credit, and with enough down payment and full coverage insurance, anyone can get a vehicle.

Q: People of austin, texas!!! car dealerships?
I was wondering if any of yall knew if theres any car dealerships in austin that would take $500 dollar down payment for a car? any decent car….under 100,000 miles year 2000 +

10 points to who ever can give me names and locations

thanks so much

A: Yes, there are dealerships that will take a down payment of $500; however, you will have to pay an inflated monthly rate that may be too cost prohibitive in the long run.

Hit any dealership on the motor mile on south I-35, and see what used selections they have to offer.

You may also want to check out Carmax.

The North Austin location is:
13300 North I-35
Austin, Texas 78753
(512) 873-2315

The South Austin location is:
4400 S. IH 35
Austin, Texas 78745
(512) 651-7160

Ihope this helps; good luck!

Q: how to get to mount Bonnell in Austin, Texas without a car?
I live in Austin, Texas, and i wanna take my girlfriend to Mount Bonnell but we don’t have a car. How can we get there from downtown? is there some kinda bus or shuttle we can take?
help appreciated, thanks

A: There is not a bus or shuttle that I know of.

Looks like a cab is the only way.

I wonder if you could start out at the Hula Hut and climb some fences and climb mt. Bonnell. That would be cool.

Q: Is there any toys and diecast car collection show in Austin Texas? I heard there is one august 26th?
I dont know how true but I heard it was going to be at the crocket center, if anyone knows anything will help.

A: There is no listing as of yet on the website. Keep checking.

Q: Can I get by with a 250cc Motorcycle in austin texas or should I get a car?
I am moving to Austin and selling my car. I am wondering if I should buy a new car when I get there or if I could get by with just a motorcycle preferably something small 250cc as it will be my first. My only concerns are that I hear it rains quite a bit and is very spread out connected by highways which are not ideal for low cc bikes

A: A 250 is small but will handle the highway speeds
.. .. ..
As for the rain get a good rain suit for motorcycles
.. .. ..
What do you think touring riders use when they are on a 3 week trip across country
.. . …
And fuel savings will pay for the bike in about a year
compared to a car
.. .. ..
Oh and get a good back pack one that will not leak if it rains and a full head helmet with a flip shield
.. .. ..
Boots can be any kind that don’t have stitching on the shoe top
.. . ..
And in the years end you will be getting yourself a big bike and
.. . ….
do not get a Harley unless you can afford a $22,000 motorcycle and the continual worry of it getting stolen and repair cost which it will need a lot of
.. .. ..
I got a Honda VTX 1300c 50 mpg and the first maintenance cost was $76.00 and oil changes at 8,000 miles and it does not use a drop of oil
and is water cooled and cost me new $8,500 out the door in 2006 it was a year end sale the new ones cost $9.900 out the door and you can dicker price of them too
.. . …
I have been riding since 1964 and owned 1964 Bridgstone motorcycle several Yamaha two Honda and Two Harley Davidson I got one now and it sits I use my Honda all the time
.. . ..

Q: Are there any up coming car shows in Austin Texas?

A: go to ticket master. duh

Q: I need to rent a vechile using a visa debit check card what car rentals in Austin Texas accepts debit cards?

A: As long as it has a visa or matercard logo or a logo of a credit card company period, then all of them should

Q: do we need a rental car if we go to austin texas?
we’re also thinking about going to san antonio, or houston. in january. is it best to get a rental car or try out some public transportation?

also recommend good hotels ( moderately prices please ) to stay in?

A: I would suggest getting a rental car. You might be able to manage in Austin without one, IF you stayed downtown (I’d suggest the San Jose on South Congress Ave. or the Radisson on Town Lake – or of course if you’re made of money you could stay at the Driskill) and if you didn’t want to go anywhere that would take you outside of the downtown area. Now, Austin certainly has stuff to do downtown — there’s lots of music, restaurants, shopping etc. on South Congress, 6th Street etc. and you can enjoy the hike and bike trail around Town Lake, walk to Zilker Park etc. — and the University and other things like the Texas State History Museum are very nearby and accessible by a short bus ride — but you may well want to also go to some other places that you’d need a car to get to. You might want to go explore the Hill Country, or go to a restaurant that’s not downtown, or something.
With San Antonio, I guess you could stay down by the Riverwalk and visit the Alamo, the 17th-century Governor’s Palace, and some other interesting stuff without a car — but I think some of the cooler stuff in SA that’s not so touristy, you would need a car to get to. The outlying missions (like Mission San Jose) are peaceful and non-touristy, and you have to have a car to get there. The art museum in the old brewery (no, I don’t recall its name right now) is probably a little far from downtown to walk to. The King William district is pretty cool and I don’t think you can walk there from downtown. Actually I’ve heard that there’s a really nice bed and breakfast in the King William district. That would be much more peaceful and authentic than doing the really commercial stuff like the market.
My limited experience of Houston is as follows: I wouldn’t even try to deal with Houston without a car.

Q: Car races in austin, texas?
Do you know if they have races like nascar races or something similar to that in austin, TX? if so please send me a website link to it.

A: There’s a bunch of races listed here: http://www.yourofficialtickets.com/ResultsGeneral.php?kwds=nascar. I’ve used them for nfl tickets a few times.

Q: Donated Or Donating Cars In Austin, Texas?
I had been reading about a place/company called ‘Good News Garage’(Org).People give them cars(tax breaks) that may have some minor issues.Good News fixes them up,then sells them for little, if not free, to people in need of a vehicle, in other words poor people. A admiral and kind business. No strings! I have a friend who has Fibromyalsia,is the mother of a handicapped son, who has Cerebral Palsy and is mentally retarded. They have had a hard life, and continue to have difficulties. She even sometimes goes dumster diving for food, and occasionally household items. This woman is desperate for a donated car, doesn’t have to cosmetically beautiful or brand shining new, but p-l-e-a-s-e let it be reliable.A good truck or old convertible,…it’s a bitch getting her son’s wheelchair in and out of vehicles. Know anyone willing to donate? It is a tax right off, so it’s a win-win situation. This is a honest and true story, she really needs help,…so if if know anything and can help, please let me know. I’m trying to pay it forward here, but I need help.

A: Unfortunately, it is not a tax write off unless your friend is registered as a non-profit organization. Sorry.

What your friend might want to do is talk to a non-profit (such as the one you mention or GoodWill) and see if they can provide her with a car for little or no money.

Q: How to go for a driving test @DPS with instruction permit (with friends car) in Texas?
Recently, I went to take a driving test at DPS, Austin TX with rented car (my friend rented). The state trooper rejected the car, ‘coz, I dont have liability insurance. I do have instruction permit, do not have any other valid license. The state trooper asked me rent with my instruction permit, but the rental agency is not willing to rent on my name. My query is, can I go for test with friend’s car?

A: Yeah, you can.
First of all, when i took my driving test, they never ask me anything about who owe the car (my dad’s car). So i don’t know why they’re concerning about a rented car. Anyway, it’s fine to use your friend’s car as long he/she give you the insurance on that day just in case if they need to do paperwork. Good luck with the test.

Q: Is the public transportation is reliable in Austin Texas?
I want to move over there but I don’t have a car….Is Austin one of those city where if you don’t have car you struggle?

A: I rode the city bus here in Austin for a couple years and honestly, it was frustrating. I don’t know if the route I had was bad or what, but the time it would pick up was very inconsistent. It was however, there to get where I needed to go. Austin is a mostly bike friendly place though. Try to find a place to live near where you work or go to school or whatever.

I would also recomend to see if you can find help here.

Kathy

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Q: Texas Crazy Laws can you believe these?
Texas Crazy Law

It is illegal to take more than three sips of beer at a time while standing.

they have them in all states -
a while back they finally removed one from our area when they had to give a guy that got of jail a horse and a gun b/c back in the day that was how people made their living and they hadn’t voided the law , so they had to give them to him

Q: Where can I find a cheap car in Austin, Tx?
I am a hard working person with terrible credit, repo the whole nine yards. I need a car, I can put two hundered down and 150 a month for payments. Until I can pay it off.. I need someone to give me a chance please. Does anyone know anyone who has a car that they can’t sell but runs good? I live 30 miles outside Austin so it must be dependable, I can’t afford to have it break..

A: american classified or www.autotrader.com

Q: Austin cheap monthly rental car needed?
Hi im living in austin, texas and i want to take the rental car on monthly basis. But can i get the car for less then 500$? Is that possible?I searched online but it’s too expensive and which is not affordable by me.So can anyone help me to find the best deals in austin (websites, phone numbers, etc).

Thanks in advance

A: There’s also a local place, Longhorn rentals.

http://www.longhorncartruckrentals.com/

Your best bet would be to call rental places and negotiate with then for a month-long rate, instead of paying their daily rate for 30 days.
Also, I would try posting on craigslist to see if someone had a reliable car they would give up for a month for a few hundred dollars. It would certainly be cheaper than going through a rental place.

Q: What is a cool, but cheap car for a 17 year old?
I have a nice car, but want to buy a new one to go with it.

I have looked at MG midgets, and austin heeleys.
Triumph Spitfire is the cheapest i have found but is not a very good car.

Basically i want something cool, rather than a piece of shit clio, corsa or 106. Cus i have got some imagination.

However before i buy a triumph i just wanted to see whether there were any other suggestions.

A: It should be 4-door, 4-cyls, not sporty. I would prefer Honda or Toyota… First time drivers usually have much more expensive car insurance, and it depends from car. You should compare insurance rates while choosing the car – for example here – carquotes.fateback.com

Q: Moving to Austin – where are good downtown places to live, and where is cheap?
Me and a friend or two are trying to move to Austin for the summer. We don’t know anything about the area, but we want to be somewhere close to downtown but also someplace we can afford. Austin has a good reputation for being a great city for young people…what are the different areas for bars and such? Preferably we would like to live walking distance to a good area…We don’t have cars, so how is the public transportation system?

If someone who knows the area well could give us some advice it would be greatly appreciated!!!

A: Austin’s a pretty cool place to chill. As for the bars you’ll mostly be hitting up 6th street but there are other places scattered about. As for public transportation, the metro is running with buses going most major places such as the community college campuses, the malls, and everywhere down town, also as of last week they have opened up a few rail cars that go from as far north as Leander and Cedar Park(where I live) all the way down to the capital building and 6th street. It all just depends on how far you’re willing to go to do things, for example at the moment the rail doesn’t run on weekends. I rode the metro rail last week when it was free as an opening preview deal and it was a pretty smooth ride to downtown in about 50 minutes. As for apartments things can get fairly cheap, out where I live the cheapest being about 450 a month. Good Luck!

Q: What is the best/cheapest way to get a VERY small car (Austin MINI) from Ontario to WA state?
What’s the deal with hiring “brokerage”, etc?

A: Drive it. All other ways will cost a lot more.

Q: What is a cheap car rental place in Orlando,FL?
Flying from Austin, Tx to Orlando,Fl on March 26th. Need to pick up the car that day(mid-day).The next day I will be driving to Miami and staying there until the 30th… then I will be heading back to Orlando on the 1st to return the car. Basically I will be putting quite a bit of miles on the car and having it for 7 days. Where should I go for the best deal?

A: I usually use Enterprise. Check their website. They have some good discounts if you catch ‘em. I had made reservations for the 5th of April and it costs me 20 bucks per day for unlimited miles. One day, I checked their website again and rentals for the same car was 15 bucks a day. So needless to say, I updated my reservations with them. I’m happy and Enterprise is glad I’m sure that they still have my business.

Q: Cheap Apartments? In Austin Texas.
I’m looking for a cheap apartment in austin texas and it ive been looking on line and ive found couple but the reviews for them are awful like lots of crime and people hitting your car? Could some one please recommend a cheap apartment in central austin on the bus line and kinda close to ACC east view campus.

A: If you’re looking for cheap apartments in the vicinity of ACC Eastview, they’re probably not going to be low-crime or particularly nice, that’s just the nature of the area, and the nature of cheap apartments.
There’s some apartments on Lakeshore Blvd that are decent – I wouldn’t recommend anything that is much further than that south of town lake though, as that is a higher crime area.
Also, avoid any apartments you may find on Oak Springs, around where it hits Webberville rd, and any on Springdale rd, right where Prock Ln hits it, those are government housing areas and are generally higher in crime.
I live pretty close to Eastview, and it’s not a bad area at all, but it can be hit-or-miss, I would definitely drive around the area you are thinking about if possible. Maybe try to get a 6-month lease so just in case it is not what you were expecting, you don’t have to wait a whole year.

Q: The cheapest place in austin Texas to get my car alarm removed?
I need them to come to my house.

A: cough*stolencar*cough

Q: How do I go from Austin to Dallas?
Aside from flying that is, what are other ways that are relatively cheap (or cheaper than flying) to go from Austin, TX to Dallas? I’m coming in from Australia, so I won’t have a car either. Is there a bus/shuttle service? And approximate times?

Thanks!
please don’t give me highway recommendations. i can google map that myself. i meant like non-driving-myself-there options thanks!

A: Amtrak train service is the way to go! Takes about 4 hours 20 minutes. Costs about $55.00. My son does it all the time as it is cheaper than gas and the time is almost the same as driving. Have fun in Austin.

Q: where is the cheapest place to rent a car in austin, tx?

A: Would be National Car Rental.

If you book it online you can get $10.00 off a weekend rental and $15.00 off a weekday rental.

http://www.nationalcar.com/ – Is the website for more info

Have a great day!!!

Q: Cheap Flights, car rental, etc…?
I’m looking for super cheap flights from either savannah GA or jacksonville FL to austin TX.

School starts for me on January 5th in hutto TX at Triple Crown Dog Academy & my husband really wants to fly in with me for orientation.

The cheapest I’ve found from looking at all of the discount flight sites is $200-$230 for my one way & $300 (give or take) for his round trip. We simply can NOT afford this. Does anyone know of any cheaper, less advertised type places? We can afford my ticket no problem, but in order for him to go also it’ll need to be less than $400 total for both of our flights.

Q: What is the best car to buy for a first car (UK).?
i am learning to drive in a couple of months and i want to start to look for a car ready for when i old to beable to drive it.

What are some good starter cars ? (something little, cheap to run .etc)

My dad said a austin/rover mini. what do u think of this car ? Thank u.

A: Whoa!! Austin/Rover? No way. Rover went bust for a reason, that being they were cobbled together and were totally rubbish. I had a Rover 200 which simply fell to bits.
Try a Vauxhall Corsa Mk 1 Facelift, 1.0 litre 3 cyl. Cheap to run, cheap to insure and easy to fix. You should get a T reg for about £600.

Q: Motorcycle or Car when I go to college?
I have a cbr f4i and I am planning to attend UT Austin in the fall. I was wondering if i should take the bike with me and if it would be practical for parking and commuting etc. or if i should buy a cheap car and use that. I have heard that its easier to find parking with a motorcycle than with a car but how much much more practical would it be in reality.

A: There are definite benefits to having a bike while in college. Parking is usually pretty good. Here at SFA we can park just about anywhere. The only problem is when the weather is less than stellar. From a practical standpoint, you need a car. Simply put the weather is going to present some serious challenges in the winter, even in austin. If I were you, I would get the cheapest beater car I could find, like a late 80’s camry or accord for less than a grand and keep that for bad weather. I have a crappy old explorer and my Victory kingpin, and the explorer gets driven maybe once a week, but when I drive it, I need a car over a bike. Having a sportbike as a sole means of transportation is not the best idea, but I have a buddy with a ninja 650 who is currently carless and survives, although he is looking for a truck in addition to his bike because he is fed up with having to ride in the sleet and snow we occasionally get here in nacogdoches. This is just my opinion, but I have been commuting to college for 2 years now by bike and HIGHLY recommend having 4 wheels in addition to 2.

Also running errands or doing housework for an older person who might not be able to do it for themselves.

selling lemonade and cookies at a corner stand?

good luck!

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
